Privacy statement

Adessium Foundation actively promotes the public interest. We fund projects run by partners who defend civil rights (including digital rights) and support initiatives that seek to protect journalists and their sources. Consequently, we understand the importance of privacy better than anyone. So, as you would expect, we apply a clear privacy policy for our activities, websites and mailing lists that does justice to this.

To collect anonymized statistics on visits to our websites, we use a counting system that records which pages are viewed and for how long. In using this system we minimize infringement of visitors’ privacy. For this reason, we only use the open source software Matomo. This conceals the last 2 bytes of the visitor’s IP address and automatically deletes visitor logs that are more than one year old. We store the data on our own servers, which are located in the European Union and managed by us. Finally, it goes without saying that we respect Do Not Track headers.

Mailing lists

For all our mailing lists, anyone registering for the mailing list must first confirm their registration by email before the subscription actually starts. Subscribers can terminate their subscription without any further involvement on our part. Subscribers’ email addresses are not publicly accessible and are stored on our own servers, which are located in the European Union. We carry out the maintenance, management and security for the mailing lists software in house. Naturally, email addresses will never be shared with third parties.

IP addresses

When a message is sent using a form on our website, the IP address and the email address provided are stored. IP addresses are stored solely to prevent spam. Only the technical staff responsible for managing the website are able to view these IP addresses.
