People with no fixed address

A dignified existence

In our society, there are many people living in vulnerable situations, with little certainty about the future and no roof over their heads. We support organizations in the Netherlands that provide them with immediate relief and work to give them a future to look forward to.

Facts & figures

  • Estimated number of homeless people in the Netherlands: 33,000 (source: Statistics Netherlands 2024)

  • Young people and children make up 40% of the homeless population (source: Kansfonds and Hogeschool Utrecht)

  • It is estimated that between 23,000 and 58,000 people live in the Netherlands without valid residence papers (source: Kansfonds)

How we see this theme

Everyone has the right to a decent and dignified existence. We don’t want anyone to be excluded from society. The organizations we support work to help people with no fixed address, such as asylum seekers, undocumented people and homeless people. They offer immediate assistance, such as shelter and medical care, and they work to achieve structural solutions to better protect this group.

Many people with no fixed address have no access to healthcare, shelter or social facilities. They live an uncertain existence, and the reduction of government support makes them increasingly vulnerable. Without support they become further isolated. Immediate aid is needed to give them a decent and dignified existence.
