Open State Foundation

Open State Foundation’s mission is to advance digital transparency in government. And in doing so, strengthen a verifiable and vibrant democracy.

To achieve an open government, Open State works on unlocking information from public institutions as open data. And promoting the reuse of that data by citizens, journalists, civil society organizations, artists, scientists, civil servants, policymakers, and elected representatives.

Open data provides citizens, media, businesses, and administrators with an equal information position in relation to the government, making that same government transparent and verifiable for everyone. Furthermore, thanks to open data, analyses can be made and new insights obtained that lead to better-informed decision-making, both politically and economically.

At the same time, open data is the key to new, innovative applications that enrich society and create economic or creative value. But above all, access to government data is vital for a healthy and modern democracy.
