ChemSec
Through independent research, cross-border collaboration, and practical tools, ChemSec promotes the development of more progressive legislation on chemical substances. They also work with companies to switch to non-toxic alternatives.
ChemSec engages lawmakers, companies, and institutional investors in the fight to turn the tide. Sonja Haider, Head of Sustainable Finance, talks more about their work in an interview: “Currently, the hottest topic is the PFAS pollution crisis. ‘PFAS have incredible essential properties!’ some chemical companies will emphasize to investors. Well, so did asbestos. Asbestos was one of the best fire-resistant materials. But, once we realized how harmful it was, alternatives were found. And the PFAS crisis is much larger and more persistent than asbestos ever was. This makes innovation and sustainable alternatives even more crucial.”
