Bureau Burgerberaad
The mission of Bureau Burgerberaad is to strengthen democracy by stimulating citizen councils with social and political impact.
Bureau Burgerberaad shares knowledge and experience from home and abroad to achieve citizen councils with impact. A randomly selected group of approximately 100-150 residents takes part in a citizen council, which offers in that way a good reflection of society. In several meetings, these residents discuss a pressing issue with each other and experts.
Bureau Burgerberaad provides independent advice and support to politicians and civil servants, offers training for experienced discussion leaders and communication specialists, and contributes to the general knowledge development of the citizen council practice. Bureau Burgerberaad is an expertise center, and therefore does not conduct citizen councils itself. In an interview, initiator Eva Rovers tells us more about this.
