Plastic waste not properly disposed of often ends up in the water or in the bodies of birds and fish. In addition to choking animals to death, plastic can ultimately end up in the food chain.

Fauna & Flora International is a conservation organization going back more than a hundred years whose mission is to protect endangered species and ecosystems around the globe. The organization works to create a wide range of sustainable solutions based on scientific evidence, among them ways to combat pollution by plastic and microplastics in particular.

Adessium Foundation is supporting Fauna & Flora International in its program to prevent pellets—small plastic balls that are used to manufacture countless products—from ending up in nature. To that end, the European plastics industry has voluntarily begun its own Operation Clean Sweep. Fauna & Flora International aims to breathe new life into this initiative in order to stimulate industry cooperation that ultimately creates a “Zero Pellet Loss” situation.
