• France's President Sarkozy seaks with German Chancellor Merkel during news conference at Elysee Palace

Many national laws result from agreements made at the European Union level—yet for many people, the EU seems distant from their lives. To provide insight into what happens in Brussels and how policy is made there, an international group of journalists founded the digital news provider EUobserver.

EUobserver strives to report on Europe critically and without bias, from a pan-European perspective. The organization aspires to increase knowledge about Europe and to stimulate debate that will keep policy makers on their toes and strengthen democracy at the European level.

Adessium Foundation is supporting EUobserver in reinforcing its investigative journalism capacity so it can provide even greater insight into how the European Union works and better elucidate urgent European issues.
